Learning to Laugh Again: Soothing the Wounds of Cancer
KMRD Supports Gilda's Club

Warrington, PA – July 2007—KMRD Partners, Inc., a full-service property & casualty brokerage and risk consulting firm, reaches out to the community in various ways. After the sister of our office manager, Lisa Pascoe, was diagnosed with cancer, the company became involved in supporting Gilda’s Club Delaware Valley. Gilda’s Club, dream of late comedian, Gilda Radner, supports over 1,000 men, women and children in the Delaware Valley, and thousands more with clubs in 31 other regions of the country and through an international network.

Hundreds of people are diagnosed with cancer each day. With each diagnoses an entire network of people are affected. Support for the social, emotional, and financial toll of cancer is quite limited. In the homelike clubhouse members share hopes, fears, wisdom and laughter, while learning to live with cancer. The Club’s "Basic Three Plus" program includes support and networking groups, workshops and lectures, social events and specialized children's activities. Noogieland, a dedicated healing space for child and teen play and supportive services, hosts Noogie Nights, Noogie Talk, and Teen Nights.

The mission of Gilda’s club is to offer the support needed to restore well-being to each person who are touched by cancer. Gilda’s Club welcomes membership to anyone with a cancer diagnosis, either their own or that of a loved one. Programs are free to all. The club thrives as a place of refuge and healing because of the hard work and generosity of volunteers and supporters.

KMRD has been supporting Gilda’s Club for 3 years through basket bingo, the annual golf-outing, yearly dog-walk, and gala event. The 2007 gala event will be held on November 9th at Spring Mill Manor in Ivyland, PA. KMRD is happy to maintain the legacy of Gilda Radner and her ability to make others laugh and feel good through thousands who attest to the fact that Gilda's Club has helped change their lives by restoring control and strengthening and enriching the entire family.

About Gilda's Club - In 2005 an estimated 72,000 people were diagnosed with cancer. Despite medical advances, the social, emotional and financial toll of cancer remains high and the need in the Delaware Valley is great. Last year 87% of our members reported Gilda's Club as the only place they go for cancer support.

Gilda's Club is the dream of late comedian Gilda Radner. We are one of 31 Clubs across North America. Since our Grand Opening in 2003, our membership and program have flourished and we recently expanded our service area to include the entire Delaware Valley. Today our clubhouse supports over 1,100 men, women and children.
